The performance of rock climbers is highly dependent on the quality of kinetic chain coordination and dynamic postural control to cope with extreme changes in the center of gravity. The inability to maintain functional stability often triggers compensatory movement patterns that are the main cause of injuries to the shoulder and upper extremities. Functional training presents an effective solution because it can simulate the specific movement demands of climbing that are not accommodated in conventional strength training. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Functional training on improving movement function in rock climbers. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research design of one group pretest-posttest. Functional movement screen was used to measure movement function before and after the intervention. The intervention in the form of Functional training was carried out 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Data analysis was carried out descriptively, normality test, and Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the provision of Functional training was able to improve the movement function of rock climbers as indicated by an increase in the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) score from 11.80 to 15.65 with a significance value of p <0.001. The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence of Functional training on improving motor function in rock climbing athletes.
